Environmental evaluations of sites as part of Environmental Due Dilligence audits are usually performed by means of the Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), consisting of Phase I-Examinations (without analysing of samples) and, if necessary, Phase II – examinations (with analysing of samples). Whilst aim of Phase I is to identify the potential environmental hazards and costs, Phase II refers to examine and evaluate the formerly identified risks and obstacles of use. The benefit for the client is that yet in this early stage of the process, decisions can be reached pro or contra further engagements in this subject.
